About

Why Bane Focus Lab exists

Most of us go through a day relying on memory and attention hundreds of times — remembering where we put our keys, staying focused through a long meeting, recalling a name five minutes after hearing it. Few of us ever learn, even in outline, how those processes actually work.

Bane Focus Lab was built to close that gap in a low-stakes, approachable way. We pair a short, interactive quiz with a library of plain-language articles so that curiosity has somewhere useful to go. The quiz turns ideas like encoding, chunking, and selective attention into something you can experience directly rather than just read about; the articles then explain the "why" behind what you just tried.

What we are

  • An educational project about the psychology of memory and attention.
  • A free, recreational quiz with instant, explained feedback.
  • A growing library of articles written in plain English and grounded in established psychology.

What we are not

  • We are not a clinical, diagnostic, or medical tool of any kind.
  • We do not estimate IQ, test for attention or memory disorders, or label your performance as "good" or "bad."
  • We do not promise that using this site will improve your cognition.
